He is a founding member of Card 53 Comedy Tyler's own improv comedy troupe and currently runs the Card 53 Improvisational Training Program. Whitley is proud to be the founder and producer of The East Texas Comedy Festival where he received recognition from the Dallas/Ft. Worth publication "TheatreJones" as "A scrappy producer creating shows in the boonies of East Texas"
Aaron Smith
Co-founder and actor
Aaron was an improv coach in high school for three years. He won medals. He recently lost weight. He just got married to his new wife. He is a man with a beard. He sometimes looks up at the sky and contemplates life, but not all the time. He didn't provide much information for his bio.
Brad Johnson
Brad is an actor, comedian, and video producer. He has been performing in some form or another his whole life. He started experimenting with improv comedy in early 2000 and joined Card 53 in 2011. He is currently a Media Specialist for Brookshire Grocery Company. He has a son named Remy whom he loves more than anything in the world. He loves to make people happy through laughter and will always try to accomplish this goal.
R.J. Norman
RJ has a degree in theatre and has been on stage in one way or another since 1997. He started with acting, and then developed a passion for voice performance. After a national appearance on American Idol, he performed live music for several years. He has been passionately married since 2010, and has a beautiful and theatrically talented little boy.
Erfan Vafaie
Erfan is an entomologist for Texas A&M by day and improvisor by night. He has done improv in Canada, at Simon Fraser University and the University of Western Ontario. He hosted a weekly radio talk-show for two years in London Ontario, where he and a friend discussed spiritual concepts such a detachment, love, perseverance, and steadfastness in the context of being a university student.
Austin Day
Master of Sound
Austin brings emotion and ambience to the stage with his mad keyboard skills. Whether it be sound effects in a scene or dropping a beat for an impromptu improvised category-4 on-stage rap battle, his fingers are always running the keys to spice things up. Don't be fooled by his rough exterior though, in his day-job he works with children with special needs at a local not-for-profit.

About Us

Card 53 Comedy has been the driving force behind the East Texas comedy scene for  the last 7 years. Their unique brand of "makem-up improv comedy" consists of several scenes where everything is made up on the spot based off audience suggestions. Card 53 considers their show to be “clean-ish” striving to provide the most entertaining show possible, however, due to the unpredictable nature of the show, Card 53 risks embarrassing their mothers, wives and places of employment all for the sake of providing a night of entertainment like no other in East Texas.
